The Mojave Desert is a magical place. Many nights and more mornings, I have spent in the desert listening and playing music. There is something special about those moments. Those of you that have experienced the SoCal Desert Rave scene know of what I write about. This year at Dunez was no exception. I made may way out to the desert around 5am to get there in time for 7am set. As per usual I arrived about 15-20 minutes before my set and dropped my set as the sun rose behind me. It was one of those perfect moments. The kind you wished would just last a little bit longer. After my set I hung out a little bit and ran into the same friends I always run into during these desert mornings. It was a good one.

I was asked to provide a mix by LRCN for the DI.FM 16th Anniversary Progressive Special that was aired over the weekend of December 11th. Since I just got a new DJ Set up (another blog post about that soon), I was wanting to play with it a bit and took this as a opportunity to test out the new system. I don't really play progressive anymore (at least what people say is progressive these days) so I took a more melodic deep house approach. To me these sounds remind me of what progressive trance and house was in the 90's. Deep, melodic, atmospheric, etc. This is a great mix for a Sunday chill session. Check it out!

I don't get to DJ very often back to back with cohort Jason Blakemore, so it is always a honor to do so. He and I started off in the LA underground around the same time in the early 1990's and we have played at so many parties over the years together that seeing each other was very commonplace.
One thing that wasn't commonplace was us DJing together. This is only the 3rd time it has happened in the 22 years we have both been DJing in the scene.
Frooty Loops was a fun show. Driving out to San Bernardino reminded me of all the times I used to DJ out at the Masterdome and The Hudson. I got there before Jason so I started off the set. He started around the 30min mark of this mix. We then went back and forth every 3 songs or so. It was a pleasure to DJ with man, JB! I hope to do it again soon. Hope you enjoy the set.
Live set from 2 of Los Angeles's most prolific underground DJ's. A rare back to back set captured at the recent event, "Frootyloops". Tracklisting to come.
What a great day. We moved our Sub Merge parties to the Roosevelt in Hollywood and what can I say, other that is was a beautiful party. The venue is fantastic. The drinks are strong. The vibes were epic. One of the great pleasures of the past 2 years for me is DJing with my buddy Rob as Stylus. I feel we play off each other well and we always have a good time. We haven't played together in over a month before this show, but if there was any rust, I surely couldn't tell. We rocked the decks for 2 hours opening up for the one and only Doc Martin. It was honor to have him grace the decks after us and the party sure went live then. Here is our 2 hour set at Sub Merge. I hope you enjoy it.
