Man, I got to update my site more often. I got 3 months of live mixes I gotta post and this is one of them. This was the first time I actually took out the DJS-1000 to a gig and tried to incorporate it into my DJing in a live setting. It was a lot of fun and being able to do it with my friends Rob Pointer and Luis Rosario as our former group Stylus was a lot of fun. For those that don’t know Stylus started at the end of 2012 as an idea that all 3 of us shared. We then started launching pool parties and events in 2013 and 2014 before calling it a day in 2015. We have mad love for each other though and we always support each other in our musical endeavors. We met up in September of 2018 and talked about doing some new things together and we were able to reach out to re:love to have us at their September 2018 park party at Hansen Dam. I started off the set with some live sampling and we all switched of DJing while I added more samples on top of other tracks. It was lot of fun. Hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed performing it.
This has been a pet project for a while. I met Dennis from Strigo coffee though the Slinky parties. He used to rave in LA but moved to the east coast and set up a coffee roasting company with his wife. They still make the annual pilgrimage to Slinky to this day. After ordering some of his beans, I knew his stuff was quality. I had approached him about making my own blend to sell on his store. It took a bit of time since both of us were busy with other projects, but in September 2018, he sent me 4 different blends for consideration.
The first one I brewed blew me away. It was dark and rich and had notes of dark chocolate and berries. It was delicious. All 4 were damn good but there was something special about that first one. I decided that is the one I wanted to have my stamp of approval. I also wanted to do something special for this project, so the idea was to record a special mix that people would be able to access if they purchase a bag. I have been working with Ken on some mixtapes projects this year (you know, Alien Abduction and Cybersex 25) so I thought well it would be cool to incorporate a limited edition mixtape in this as well.
I was on vacation in Maui at the end of September and the first week of October and I was fortunate enough to DJ there 3 times during my trip. I ended up recording my set on Sunday, September 30th, at the Dirty Monkey in Lahaina. I decided this would be a great mix for the coffee project and sent the files to Ken to have him start the duplication.
Strigo currently uses stickers on brown coffee bags but I wanted to step it up. I don’t know when I will ever get my name on a coffee bag again, so I wanted to actually get some back printed for this release. I contacted my good friend and design wizard Jason Splat to help me out with this. He came up with a great design for the bag and the accompanying mixtape as well. I have to say I am pretty stoked about how all this came together. If you like a a good cup of brew click the links below and pick up a bag and a mixtape!

What a beautiful day at the beach. Great vibes and a great view. I started my set with some deep melodic tracks. I was trying to play to the environment. It felt great to play some deep stuff that lead into a bit of disco and classic house. What a great way to end the weekend. I hope you enjoy the set and if you do please share it.

I didn’t know this would be my last time playing at Revival. I have played quite a few times at this wonderful night over the past 4 years. I have played along side Frankie Bones, DJ Dan, Colette and Charles Feelgood just to name a few. It has been such a great night and little did I know that it would end 3 weeks after this set. I’m glad I got to end things on such a great high not at Revival. I started deep, played some latin house, some disco house and some classic house jams. Hope you enjoy and if you do please share.
What a beautiful afternoon. I was at Dr. Freecloud’s Record Shoppe earlier in the day for their grand opening of the new location. After, the wife and I headed to San Diego for Raver Sunday hosted by Enter The Tech. Raver Sunday was a backyard bbq like no other. The promoter actually had the event in his backyard with a great sound system and solid vibes. I played a 2 hour set from 5-7pm and was able to watch the sun set in the ocean after my set. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday. Hope you enjoy the set.
