One of Los Angeles’ most popular and hardworking DJs

Jacob “Thee-O” Ofilas is a Southern California DJ, producer, and lifelong student of underground dance music whose career spans more than three decades.

He began DJing at just 13 years old and by 18 was already immersed in the early Los Angeles rave scene of the early ’90s — a time when the culture was still raw, underground, and being defined in real time.

Over the years, Thee-O has built a reputation not by chasing trends, but by following feeling. His sound has continuously evolved — from early breakbeat and techno to trance, house, and beyond — while always maintaining a signature style rooted in musicality, energy, and connection. His ability to move between genres without losing identity has made him a respected and enduring presence across multiple eras of dance music.

A fixture of the West Coast scene, Thee-O has played everywhere from underground warehouses to major festivals, including EDC, Lightning in a Bottle, and Lucidity. His journey reflects the evolution of the scene itself — from intimate gatherings to global-scale events — while remaining grounded in the spirit of the underground.

As a producer and remixer, his work has been released on respected labels such as Bedrock, Perfecto, Suara, and System Recordings. His productions mirror his DJ philosophy: genre is secondary to feeling, and the goal is always to create something that resonates across dance floors.

After a period living and performing in Hawaii, Thee-O returned to California with a renewed perspective — continuing to push forward with new music, collaborations, and performances.

More than 30 years into his career, Thee-O remains deeply connected to the culture that shaped him. While many artists from his era have faded, he continues to evolve, perform, and contribute — bridging generations of dance music fans.

For those who know, Thee-O isn’t just part of the scene.

He’s part of its history — and still writing it.

“For those of you that don't know THEE-O, the man is the mayor of L.A. I don't think there is a DJ on the west coast that has his name on as many flyers as Thee-O...word...” – Frankie Bones
